“I think what happened was, we were talking about our experiences with men and different men, races, and ethnicities and comparing our experiences,” the reality star began. “I think what happened was I poorly articulated myself and I irresponsibly repeated something that I heard my entire life,” Cyn continued nervously.

After taking a moment to pause and regroup, The LHHNY star insisted that her comment was taken out of context. “This is a tough moment for me. I feel like I poorly articulated myself and I irresponsibly repeated something that I heard throughout my teenage years which was, the whole, oh, black men love Spanish women, or Latinos, you know,” Cyn explained. “And I think people took that message wrongly. That’s not what I meant.”

The VH1 star apologized for her comments after they went viral and resulted in her receiving a lot of backlash on social media. “And for that, I do apologize. I would love to talk about it. That’s something that I think is important to talk about. I was really speaking about my personal experiences.”

The drama unfolded when a 2016 interview from Angela Yee’s Lip Service podcast featuring Cyn resurfaced. The LHHNY star stated that she preferred dating black men and suggested that it was because black men treated Spanish women better than black women.

"I just like black guys and Spanish girls," Cyn explained. "Y'all can keep the Puerto Rican men, I'm good. I do black guys all day, sorry. I did the Spanish thing...doesn't work out for me. I think they're too emotional. ... Black guys cater to us Spanish girls, especially. Like they...you know what, let me not get into it. Black girls gonna take it personal, they gonna be like 'uhh uhhh!' Anyway, I'm done with the papis."

Cyn later took to her Twitter account to address the situation after many were angered by her comments. When one fan proposed that she stop explaining herself to strangers, the reality star insisted that she should, especially since the strangers who were upset with her were black women.

“Nah I’m gonna explain myself because these strangers are black women. And I especially love THE BLACK WOMAN. I’ve never in my life bashed one. Never will. So yeah, ima explain myself and shed some clarity on a clip that’s being spread around with little context.”
