Years before the 13-year-old became a superstar in Sia’s music video, Kurt and Melissa Ziegler, who were married at the time, did a joint filing for bankruptcy in 2009, RadarOnline reported.

According to documents, the family owed $1.2 million to creditors. While most of the debt was mortgages and taxes, the family owed more than a quarter-million dollars in credit card payments and jewelry.

The Ziegler’s aren’t the only ones with debt issues on Dance Moms! The ringleader, Miller, was indicted with 20 counts of fraud and facing charges of concealment of bankruptcy assets, false bankruptcy declarations and bankruptcy fraud.
