Meghan Markle Solemnly Visits The Field Of Remembrance For The First Time With Prince Harry

Harry, 35, has attended the event alone for the past two years but this year, Meghan, 38, decided to join him. The Remembrance Day event is part of several commemorative ceremonies that lead up to Remembrance Sunday.

The royal family and members of the public are able to plant a cross in memory of those who have lost their lives while fighting.

The former Suits actress donned a warm navy coat from designer Sentaler’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection. She paired it with a matching blue fascinator hat, knee high black leather boots, gloves and black dress. Meghan also wore the Remembrance Day symbol, a red poppy, on her lapel. The Duke of Sussex came dressed in his military uniform from his 10 years of service. He and his wife placed crosses in the garden and then toured the field at the ceremony on Thursday.

Meghan and Harry were set to make an appearance with his stepmother, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. However, the 72-year-old came down with a chest infection and was unable to attend. “The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days," a rep for Clarence House said in a statement.

Harry first attended the commemoration in 2012 with his grandfather Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. In 2017, Philip, 98, retired from public duty and Harry attended the ceremony solo.
