Meghan Markle Had One Condition While Co-Editing Vogue — 'I Want To See Freckles'

Meghan Markle recently made history as the first guest-editor for British Vogue in its 103 years. While collaborating with Editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, the Duchess of Sussex had one specific guideline for photographer Peter Lindebergh when shooting the cover — freckles!

Meghan, 37, who helped guest edit the upcoming September issue, wanted to make sure that each cover star's natural beauty shined through.

"My instructions from the Duchess were clear: ‘I want to see freckles!’” Peter, 74, told Vogue of the conversation he had with the royal before they did the shoot in New York.

“Well, that was like running through open doors for me. I love freckles,” he added.

This isn't the first time Peter and Meghan have worked together. In 2016, the famous photographer shot the royal's cover shoot for Vanity Fair where she proudly showed off her own freckles.

Over the years, Meghan has expressed how important her freckles are to her. “To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot,” Meghan told Allure in 2017.

“For all my freckle-faced friends out there, I will share with you something my dad told me when I was younger: ‘A face without freckles is a night without stars,'" she added of her estranged father, Thomas Markle.
