Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have unfollowed each other on Instagram three months after their split. Miley still follows his brother Chris Hemsworth and Liam still follows her sister Noah Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus. Their social media breakup comes as the "Slide Away" songstress' romance with Cody Simpson is heating up.
It's unclear who clicked the unfollow button first, but Miley has been posting up a storm with Cody on the photo sharing app, which could have prompted Liam to make the move.
Prior to her relationship with the Australian musician, Miley enjoyed a summer romance with Brody Jenner's ex Kaitlynn Carter. The Hills star opened up about their fling in an essay for Elle and revealed that she will always have fond feelings for Miley. "While it was short-lived, I’ll remain eternally grateful to my most recent relationship for opening my eyes to this unexplored part of myself, and for inspiring a new level of self-discovery and wonder at all the possibilities of life. I’ve been forced to get to know myself in a far deeper way than ever before, and not just in terms of my sexual preferences. I’ve also been forced to reckon with who I am as a person," she wrote.
Miley has gotten a lot of backlash for moving on so quickly with Cody. She took to Instagram on October 4 and begged fans to allow her the space to explore her dating life.
"Men (especially successful ones) are RARELY slut shamed. They move on from one beautiful young woman to the next MOST times without consequences. They are usually referenced as 'legends,' 'heartthrobs,' 'G,' 'ladies man' etc ... where women are called sluts/w***es. I am trying to just THRIVE/survive in a 'man's' world ... if we can't beat 'em, join 'em!" she wrote.
She continued, "This dating thing is new to me too. I've never been an 'adult'/grown a** woman experiencing this. I was in a committed relationship for almost all my teens and early 20s, with the exception of a few breaks, which usually in those times I was working my a** off with not much R&R ... and meeting/trusting people in my position is really tough. Don't f***ing pity me, not what I am asking for. I have a great life I wouldn't trade for 'privacy' but PLEASE don't make this awkward for me! I am trying to make light and like always make fun of myself/ and the public's perception of me. Get used to me dating — this is where I am at! #HotGirlFall."
Meanwhile, Liam has also moved on and has been linked to model Maddison Brown.
