Miley Cyrus is recouping after undergoing vocal cord surgery. The “Wrecking Ball” singer, 26, was released from the hospital after having surgery for her vocal cords according to PEOPLE. The singer was hospitalized last month for tonsillitis when she discovered a separate problem with her vocal cords. The singer unknowingly had these issues for years according to reports.
After learning of the issue, doctors told Miley that she would need to have surgery before the end of the year and that the recovery process would include several weeks of silence. The actress had been working on new music, but as a result of the surgery, she had to put all projects on hold.
Almost three weeks ago, Miley announced that she had taken a break from singing. “On vocal rest not body,” the “Slide Away” singer said.Sources close to Miley told the publication that she is “doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.”
On Friday, November 8, Miley’s boyfriend Cody Simpson seemingly made a reference to the surgery. Cody, 22, shared a black-and-white photo of the couple and captioned the picture, “success.”

Cody was also seen by Miley’s side when she went for her first surgery on October 8 who visited the star with roses and a guitar. A few days before, the pair were spotted kissing in a grocery store in Los Angeles on October 3. Miley later revealed on her Instagram story that the two had made it official.
Miley has made headline in more ways than one in recent months after a series of relationship drama. Liam Hemsworth filed for divorced from now ex-wife Miley on August 21, 2019, just 11 days after the couple announced that they were separating. The Hunger Games actor filed documents in Los Angeles and cited “irreconcilable differences.”
Fans discovered that the two were also longer following each other on social media. Miley was reportedly devastated to find out that Liam had unfollowed her. The singer had hopes of reconciling with her ex-husband sometime in the near future.
Miley and Liam signed a pre-nup before they got married in order to protect their assets and because they couple didn’t have kids , the divorce should pan out smoothly.
