Kelly & Ryan forever? While celebrating her 40th birthday on June 24, Mindy Kaling was surrounded by close friends and her ex-boyfriend B.J. Novak. B.J., 39, took to Instagram to share a picture of the Late Night star’s special day and hilarious cake. Naturally, fans picked up on the kind gesture.
The cake commemorated the milestone birthday and was customized with an image of Mindy giving a thumbs-up from a past birthday.
In the background sat B.J., admiring Mindy as she proudly showed off the cake.
The Office fans who shipped the infamous on-again, off-again onscreen (and real life) couple responded with wild excitement, getting their hopes up about Mindy and B.J. taking another chance on love. "SOMEONE LOOK AT ME LIKE RYAN LOOKS AT KELLY" one wrote.
"I knew Ryan always loved you," a romantic fan wrote. Another follower commented, "can you guys get married already?"
During Mindy’s pregnancy and after she gave birth to daughter, Katherine, many fans speculated that B.J. could be her baby daddy. However, she plans on keeping her daughter’s paternity a secret.
Despite Mindy and B.J.’s relationship not working out, the two are incredibly close. She revealed to Good Housekeeping in May that he is in fact the godfather to Mindy’s daughter.
“He comes over like once a week. Sometimes he’ll come over just to hang out with her,” she gushed.
