PHOTOSMinnie Driver SLAMS Matt Damon For His 'Profoundly Unsurprising' Comments On Sexual Assault

Minnie Driver was none too pleased with the recent comments made by former boyfriend Matt Damon, who had a lot to say about the slew of sexual harassment claims coming out of Hollywood lately. And she took to Twitter to express her rage. Click through to find out what she had to say!
It all started when Matt went on ABC’s Popcorn with Peter Travers and offered his take on sexual assault, starting first by saying that he thought it was “wonderful” that women are feeling “empowered” to come forward.
But then his comments took a turn for the worse when he added, “I do believe there’s a spectrum of behavior … There’s a difference between patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right? Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated.”
But wait, there was more. He went on, “We live in this culture of outrage and injury, that we’re going to have to correct enough to kind of go, ‘Wait a minute. None of us came here perfect.’”
Say what? That is all Minnie needed to hear because she immediately took to social media, writing “Interesting how men with all these opinions about women’s differentiation between sexual misconduct, assault and rape reveal themselves to be utterly tone deaf and as a result, systemically part of the problem (*profoundly unsurprising).”
In an interview with The Guardian, she said “I felt I desperately needed to say something. I’ve realized that most men, good men, the men that I love, there is a cut-off in their ability to understand. They simply cannot understand what abuse is like on a daily level.”

The Speechless star went on to say that men should not impose their opinion of the sexual assault against women. “I honestly think that until we get on the same page, you can’t tell a woman about their abuse. A man cannot do that. No one can. It is so individual and so personal, it’s galling when a powerful man steps up and starts dictating the terms, whether he intends it or not.”
The actress, who starred alongside Matt in his 1997 film Good Will Hunting (and dated him for a short while after that), also personalized her message with her own experiences with harassment.
“There is not a woman I know,” she said, “myself included, who has not experienced verbal abuse and sexual epithets their whole f***ing life, right up to being manhandled and having my career threatened several times by men I wouldn’t sleep with.”
Her comments on social media were met with mixed reactions, from scorn to praise, most notably from fellow actress Busy Phillips who typed a series of applause emoijs.
