Collared Shirts

Multiple variations of the collared shirt appeared on the NYFW runways, officially making the article of clothing a not-so-basic closet essential for Spring/Summer 2015. From Rebecca Taylor’s sheer numbers embroidered with beads to the classic oxford on Michael Kors’ models, this is a wearable trend we’ll gladly welcome into store shelves everywhere.

Florals

Floral motifs may be a bit predictable for the season that brings new blooms, but spring fashion wouldn’t be the same without the fresh and feminine print. Designers like Kate Spade, Vivienne Tam, and DVF went for bright bouquets while Oscar de la Renta and Badgley Mischka presented pastels and appliques.

Sporty Shoes

I scream, you scream, we all scream for sporty (walkable!) shoes. Models at Charlotte Ronson’s show rocked strappy sandals while Kate Spade and Coach models donned simple (and in the case of Kate Spade, metallic) slip-ons. The sartorial decision was made once again on the ICB runway, where models wore peep-toe platforms with a sneaker-like sole.

Gingham Prints

Sorry Dorothy, but there’s a new gingham trend that might outdo your frock from The Wizard of Oz. While Lela Rose mixed and matched this pattern in a black and white color story, designers like Altuzarra and Oscar de la Renta showed it off in pretty red and pale pink hues. Different variations were also seen on the runways of ICB and DVF.

Something with Sparkle With Plenty of Sheen

Christian Siriano turned to glass sculptures for the inspiration behind his Spring/Summer collection, and that clearly translated into select garments decorated with translucent, sparkling beads. Some designers went for a different shiny route—debuting sheen in gold lamé. Check out Erin Fetherston’s jacquard yellow print skirt and you’ll agree.
