While fans assumed that Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell called their relationship quits because of The Bachelor’s hesitation to say “I love you,” Nikki explainded that their lack of communication wasn’t the cause of their split.
“It didn’t end because we didn’t love each other or over a lack of communication,” Nikki told Chris Harrison during the season 19 premiere of The Bachelor. “It just ended because of a difference of lifestyle. There was a point we said we love each other, like in a normal relationship.”

The season 17 winner insisted that the couple’s location and careers were the cause of the breakup. “It’s just I’m a nurse in Kansas City, he lives in Miami and is in the entertainment industry,” she explained. “That’s his job. That’s his lifestyle. It was really hard for me to fit into that.”
Never one to quit, Nikki put as much work into the one-year relationship as possible. “It's not from a lack of trying on either side," she explained. “We gave it a good try, but we're two different people.”
She added, “At the end of the day, we have different priorities. We have different lifestyles. It is what it is. We tried. We real-life tried, not TV tried."
Juan became one of the most controversial Bachelor contestants in history when he chose Nikki but refused to propose or tell her that he loves her. When Chris asked why she stood by Juan when most women wouldn’t, she explained, “As his girlfriend, I wanted to respect that. I’m gonna stand by my man. Was it going to be 100 percent my choice? No, but I cared about him and I wanted to be a good girlfriend.”
