The new film will be produced by Tracy Oliver, the co-writer of Girls Trip and Marquita Robinson will be taking on the writing duties. She is best known for her work on Netflix comedy series GLOW.

The original Clueless was directed and written by Amy Heckerling and was set at a Beverly Hills high school and starred Alicia as Cher Horowitz, Brittany as Tai, along with Paul Rudd as Josh, Stacey as Dionne, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, and Dan Hedaya.

Clueless Remake

The hit teen comedy that was produced by Scott Rudin and Robert Lawrence, was very loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel, Emma, with Alicia playing the Emma Woodhouse character and Paul as George Knightley, her ultimate crush.

The famous “as if!” film — short for “as if that were true” — earned $56 million in the U.S. on a $12 million budget, leading to a three-season TV spinoff, with Alicia replaced by Rachel Blanchard. Clueless the Musical, starring Dove Cameron, will make its debut in New York City next month.
