Prince William turned the big 3-7 on Friday, June 21, and his brother Prince Harry and sister-in-law Meghan Markle sent him sweet birthday wishes for the occasion. The well-wishes come just one day after Duke and Duchess of Sussex split from William and his wife, Kate Middleton’s charity, The Royal Foundation.
"Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge," Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, commented on Kensington Palace’s Instagram post, celebrating William.
Their birthday tribute consisted of a smiling snap of Wills along with a caption that read, "? Thank you everyone for your lovely wishes on The Duke of Cambridge's birthday!"
The Royal Family's official Instagram also posted a B-Day message to the future king. They wrote, "Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge! ? #HappyBirthdayHRH. The Duke of Cambridge is second in line to the throne. His Royal Highness undertakes a number of charitable activities and projects, and carries out public and official duties in support of The Queen, in the UK and overseas, alongside The Duchess of Cambridge."
On June 20, it was announced that Meghan and Harry will split from their joint charity with William and Kate, 37, to start their own.
“The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex has today announced the conclusions of a review into its structure, and how it will best support Their Royal Highnesses with future charitable activity,” a statement from the palace read.
The palace continued, “Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will establish their own new charitable foundation with transitional operating support from The Royal Foundation.”
Meghan and Harry also split the royal household earlier this year. The couple moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor while Williams and Kate live at Kensington Palace.
