PHOTOSRami Malek Taped His Headshot On Pizza Boxes Before Making It Big In Hollywood

Rami Malek's portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody scored him a Golden Globe for Best Actor and a SAG Award for Best Actor. However, as is the case with most Hollywood stars, before he became a household name, he was a struggling actor desperate for any job he could get his hands on. He revealed the ways he tried to get casted after winning his SAG on January 27, 2019.
"I was dying to get a role as an actor, this is more extraordinary than I could ever have expected in my life,” the 37-year-old told PeopleTV about his win.
“I used to tape my headshot and resume to pizza boxes and if anyone seemed even remotely involved in the industry, I was taping them up and sending them out for years,” he continued.
Delivering his headshot and resume on pizza boxes all ended when “someone finally called my card and on that day I went into her office and got the job later that night. I woke up and I was about to be a part of SAG the very next day.”
Rami beat out Hollywood heavyweights Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Viggo Mortensen, and John David Washington to win his second major award for his role in the Queen biopic. He is also up for an Oscar at the end of February.
“I never in my wildest dreams thought I could be in a category with these men and I’m so proud to be one of your peers… It’s an honor I’m taken aback by,” he said in his acceptance speech.
