Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss opened up about being judged for using a surrogate to have a baby on the Tamron Hall Show. The reality star explained that a lot of people gave her unwanted advice and opinions because they weren't knowledgable about the surrogacy process.

Kandi and her husband Todd Tucker welcomed daughter Blaze on November 22, 2019 with the help of their surrogate. "So we decided to go the surrogate route and we met the most amazing person to help us. Dr. Jackie introduced us to Shadina Blunt, who was our surrogate," Kandi began.

Tamron asked Kandi about her family's opposition to her turning to surrogacy. "A lot of people don't have the information so they don't really know, and it scares you as soon as you find out obviously. People are like, 'Why you wanna do that?' And then they automatically think it's a vain decision that you're just doing it because you don't want ... it's like, c'mon honey I got money to get my body back together if I need to!" Kandi continued.

"It's not a vain decision, it wasn't that. One of my family members brought up like, 'You don't think you'll be able to bond with her?' and it hurt my feelings. I didn't say anything but it did hurt my feelings because overall I just think people need to be a little bit more sensitive," Kandi concluded.

Kandi previously got candid about the surrogacy process on her YouTube show. She confessed that both she and Todd formed a close bond with their surrogate Shadina.

"I have no regrets on the decision that we made. It actually turned out to be a great thing for us ... I mean we got a new friend! Don't get me wrong that some people prefer not to have a relationship with the carrier and that's fine. In the beginning I was feeling this sadness because it was like, 'Oh my God, I'm not carrying my own child.' Once I got through that part of it I just started enjoying it because it was like, 'Okay, we got a healthy baby on the way,'" she said.

Kandi announced that they were expecting via surrogate in September 2019. In November, she revealed that Shadina was initially pregnant with twin girls, but one of the embryos sadly did not survive.
