Emily Simpson Reveals She's Suffering From Severe Pain Following Hip Replacement Surgery

Emily Simpson is need of some prayers. The Real Housewives of Orange County star underwent her long-awaited hip replacement surgery on October 28, and has been in recovery since. She shared her hospital journey with fans on Monday on her Instagram Stories.

In one clip, the 43-year-old was lying bed at the medical center as her husband Shane was putting on yellow hospital socks. "Surgery day," she wrote on the clip, adding two worried face emojis.

Several hours later, once Emily was out of surgery, she updated followers on her condition. Alongside a closeup of a heart rate monitor on her finger, she wrote, "In recovery. Everything went well." She added that she will be staying in the hospital overnight as she heals.

The following day, the reality star was able to make the effort to get up from her bed and try to walk around. "I  got up and walked to a chair. Not going to lie. The pain is way worse than I anticipated," she winced in her caption.

The lawyer-turned-reality star announced she was getting a hip replacement done via Twitter on October 14. "I’m having hip replacement surgery October 28th. I’m nervous, but beyond excited about finally being able to move pain free. The new Emily can’t wait to run, jump, workout, walk a catwalk and dance!! #rhoc ," she tweeted.

She explained more about her procedure in the comments section of her tweet where fans showered her with love. She told followers that she suffers from arthritis and has no cartilage in her left hip. “I haven’t been able to lie on my back or buckle my shoes in months,” she told a Twitter user. “I can only imagine how amazing that feels to wake up pain free," she wrote in another tweet.

The mother of three previously revealed that her arthritis was making her gain weight and gave her an immense amount of pain on a daily basis. In June, she admitted on social media that she's been suffering from the illness and how it's affecting her daily routine.

“Last year my arthritis got so severe (specifically my left hip) that I became really depressed and stopped working out period,” she wrote., adding that a hip replacement wasn't far off. “It was painful to move, so I basically stopped moving at all...“I gained 20-25 pounds over the past year and added more unnecessary weight to my hip ...which made it even harder to move and get around. It looks like a hip replacement is in my VERY near future.”
