PHOTOS'RHOC' Star Emily Simpson Reveals She’s Having Major Surgery Later This Month
Emily Simpson revealed that she's about to go through a life-changing surgery later this month. The Real Housewives of Orange County star announced the news on Twitter on October 12.
Emily, 43, confessed that she will be getting a hip replacement on October 28th. "I’m having hip replacement surgery October 28th. I’m nervous, but beyond excited about finally being able to move pain free. The new' Emily can’t wait to run, jump, workout, walk a catwalk and dance!! #rhoc," she tweeted.
Emily has been living with severe pain for months and finally decided to do something about it. She elaborated on her procedure in the comments section of her tweet where fans showered her with love and prayers. She told followers that she suffers from arthritis and has no cartilage in her left hip.
“I haven’t been able to lie on my back or buckle my shoes in months,” she told a Twitter follower. “I can only imagine how amazing that feels to wake up pain free," she wrote in another tweet. Real Housewives of Dallas star D'Andra Simmons commented, "Sending prayers your way girl. It’ll all be worth it in the end!" A user wrote, "Wishing you a smooth recovery and a future of pain free dancing days."
In a recent episode of RHOC, the Bravo star broke down in tears over her health and fitness when she weighed herself at costar Tamra Judge's gym. She asked Tamra, 52, for help after she realized her weight gain was messing with her arthritis. “I’ll be honest with you, I have not weighed myself in probably eight or nine months because I just, I don’t want to know,” she said during the episode. “I’ve been avoiding knowing any of this information. I’ve just been living in denial. I don’t know if I want to know.” The Ohio-born attorney was sad after she stepped on the scale. “That’s the most I’ve ever weighed,” she said. “That’s off the charts. It’s really sad for me that I weigh this number.”
Tamra shamed Emily for her love of tacos during the show after she revealed her diet. “I wake up I don’t eat anything. I drink coffee with cream and sugar, then I maybe eat lunch. If I’m at work then I might get something like Del Taco," Emily said.
Emily isn't new to trolls on social media slamming her for her weight. She recently opened up to Us Weekly about how she deals with the haters. “I just thought that was really cruel because beauty comes in all shapes and colors and sizes, and if we all look like supermodels, how boring would the world be?” she said. “So we’re short, we’re tall, we’re curvy, we’re skinny...I mean who defines beauty? I just feel like it’s all about just carrying yourself well, having confidence and that’s what beauty is," she explained.
