Tinsley Mortimer is choosing love! On Saturday, December 7, her former costar Luann de Lesseps confirmed that the 44-year-old would not be returning for the upcoming 12th season of Real Housewives of New York City. Now, it appears that Tinsley’s fiancé Scott Kluth was a huge reason she decided to step away from the series.
A source close to Tinsley claimed Scott made her an offer she couldn’t turn down. “Scott gave her an ultimatum: ‘me or the show,’ and she chose him,” the insider told People. Tinsley was a part of the RHONY family since its ninth season in 2017.
“He loves the limelight, but hated the negative effect the show had on their relationship,” the source continued. “And Tinsley, she’s desperate to make the relationship work and was on the outs with the group as it was.”
“It was much easier for her to walk away from the friendships she was never going to have to fight for the relationship she always wanted,” the insider added.
Tinsley’s exit reportedly comes five weeks before her Bravo contract was set to expire. She attended BravoCon in November, but stopped filming shortly afterward. She also skipped the RHONY trip to Mexico at the beginning of December. Her departure is expected to be a huge plot line for season 12, which is slated to air next year.
Scott and Tinsley went public with their proposal in November. Though the couple were previously on-again/off-again for years, the Coupon Cabin CEO was ready to make their relationship more permanent. He popped the question outside of Chicago Water Tower and he was accompanied by festive Christmas Carolers and Tinsley's mom Dale Mercer. According to a source, even before Tinsley accepted the proposal, she made the decision to relocate to the Windy City for good. “She is moving for love,” an insider told Us Weekly.
“This is a very happy time in her life right now and everyone is rooting for her and Scott. They have addressed all their issues and no longer want to live without each other. She is very, very happy!” the source added.
