She just made her account private, causing her millions of fans to speculate over why she made such a drastic social media decision. Before she made the change, the “Wolves” singer posted a cryptic message about a recent Billboard Magazine story about her, prompting her followers to believe this had something to do with it! Selena boasts one of the biggest followings on the popular social media network, which currently sits at 130 million followers where she herself only follows 317 accounts.
Before she made her account private, she posted part of an article that Billboard did on her about a large teddy bear she got as a gift that allegedly made her furious.
The full text of that part of the article reads as "There’s a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez’s North Hollywood home. ‘I know, I know,’ says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn’t quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. ‘It was a gift, and at first I thought, ‘This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person.’ But Gomez, 25, hasn’t let go of it — yet.”
Her response, which she wrote over the text of the story, was "Never will I let another human guess my words ever again. Or invite them into my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things.”
So, what’s with the sudden beef with Billboard? She was just named their 2017 Woman of the Year last week, where she got emotional during her speech after accepting the award from her best friend Francia Raisa.
Billboard also posted a video of Selena on their official Instagram account yesterday, with the one word caption “Monday.” Was it them, or something else?
She appeared on KISS-FM in London earlier this week to discuss her Instagram habits, saying "I think it’s funny because a lot of people know how self-deprecating I am in general. t’s not something I try to keep up. I think it’s amazing to stay connected with my fans and most of the time I probably say too much. But I don’t know. It’s fun, I love being able to connect with people. But whether I’m the number one most followed or the least followed, it’s for me.”
Fans have also been posting a now-deleted Instagram story which is captioned with “I need some alone time,” so maybe this has nothing to do with the article and more about her wanting some privacy?
