Minutes after Adam Levine performed at the 2019 Super Bowl Pepsi Halftime show, fans took to social media to question why it was okay for the Maroon 5 lead to work the stage with no shirt on, while Janet Jackson was harshly criticized for her wardrobe malfunction during her halftime set with Justin Timberlake in 2004.

At this year's halftime show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, over 100 million people watched Adam, 39, remove his shirt while playing guitar.
People questioned why it was okay for the “Girls Like You" Singer to go shirtless after Janet, 52, was so harshly called out for her wardrobe malfunction during her own performance at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime show.
As many remember, Justin, 38, went to take off Janet's corset top and accidentally took her bra along with it, exposing the star's bare breast for all the world to see, sparking outrage.
Justin and Janet were both forced to issue apologies, and the Federal Communications Commission charged CBS with a $550,000 indecency fine for the "Nipplegate" incident.
Janet has not been invited back to perform for another Super Bowl halftime show but the "Man of the Woods" singer rocked the stage at the big game's 2018 halftime show last year. In addition, CBS has proceeded to broadcast every single Super Bowl since the wardrobe malfunction in 2004.
