Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn made a rare but adorable appearance together in New York. On December 16, the “Cruel Summer” singer left the Cats world premiere at Lincoln Center with the actor. Even though Taylor, 30, walked the red carpet solo, she and the UK native had a sweet moment when they left the theater that evening.

The couple was seen holding hands and Joe, 28, flashed a soft smile at Taylor as they exited Lincoln Center, shielded by umbrellas. The Favourite actor looked dapper in a navy blue suit, and Taylor wore a colorful Oscar de la Renta gown that featured an elegant floral print. A red lip and dazzling drop earrings completed the “Fearless” singer’s look as she draped a jacket over her shoulders.

At the premiere, the Lover hitmaker spoke about “Beautiful Ghosts,” an original song she penned for the film with composer extraordinaire Andrew Lloyd Weber. "That alone was just a life-changing dream-come-true moment for me," Taylor gushed to Entertainment Tonight. The tune has already garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.

"It's one of those songs that I feel like the movie doesn't make sense without that song. It's not like it was just a song that was stuck into the film," the Grammy Award-winning singer explained. "This is a character that is a lead character in the film, and in the original Broadway production, she doesn't have a song."

“Beautiful Ghosts” is sung by Francesca Hayward in the film, and Taylor’s rendition is slated to play as the credits roll. "In the production she's just a ballerina, we don't ever hear from her," Taylor continued. "So it was amazing to get to be the lyricist who figured out what she was going to say when she spoke."

Although Taylor was outspoken about her new song, she kept mum about her lover. Taylor and Joe have been dating since 2016, and have kept their relationship very private. The couple has yet to make their red carpet debut. Engagement rumors sparked in August after she released her album Lover. Speculation continued to swirl the last time the couple was seen together when they went to the Saturday Night Live afterparty in October.

The Reputation hitmaker has been very public about her relationships in the past. However, she is taking a different approach with the Mary Queen of Scots actor. “I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion. If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it – but it’s just that it goes out into the world,” she revealed to The Guardian in August.

Taylor added, “That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.”
