PHOTOS‘Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant’ Star Jade Cline’s Mom Busted For Drugs During Theft Arrest

Jade Cline has been open about her mother’s struggle with drug abuse on Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant. In this week’s episode, Jade suspected her mom Christine Smith was using again and was shocked when she passed a drug test. However, Jade has good reason to be suspicious of her mother, because she revealed she was busted for drugs in the midst of robbing a store back in 2014!
According to Johnson County Court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Jade’s mom Christine was arrested for possession of cocaine and theft on March 8, 2014, while shopping at a Meijer supermarket in Indiana.
Greenwood Police responded to the scene after a loss prevention officer witnessed Christine “selecting items from the store, specifically two items of clothing valued at $15.50 and removed their tags.”
When stopped by security outside of the store, Christine admitted to theft. “Smith’s behavior was erratic and eyes glazed,” the arrest affidavit read. “Security searched her for their protection and hers, and found a glass pipe in her purse, along with a plastic bag with rock cocaine inside of it, which was also found inside of her purse.”
A spot test on the narcotics was positive for cocaine. “Ms. Smith admitted she bought the crack cocaine and had done some before entering the store,” the court papers read.
Christine agreed to a plea deal and pled guilty to conversion, while the other charges were dismissed. She was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 361 days suspended and was placed on probation for 365 days. She was also ordered to complete substance abuse evaluation and treatment.
On Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant, Jade, who shares daughter Kloie with boyfriend Sean Austin, confessed she wasn’t sure she could count on her mom to help with the baby due to her struggle with addiction. “It’s hard to trust anything she says to me,” Jade admitted. “If I found out she was doing hard drugs, I don’t think I would be able to let her be around Kloie. That’s a decision I have to make.”
