Chrisley Knows Best star Todd Chrisley's son Kyle confessed that his recent hospitalization was due to a suicide attempt on the latest episode of their family podcast Chrisley Confessions on Thursday, September 5.

Kyle, 28, has openly struggled with substance abuse and bipolar disorder over the years.

"I take medication and I had a bad side effect to it and I tried to take my own life. With the meds, I got all kinds of crazy thinking going on," Kyle revealed.

Todd, 50, stood firmly in his son's corner and elaborated on the adverse effects of the medications.

"I think some of the medications they put you on — that you had not been on — one of the side effects is suicidal tendencies and we're now off of that," Todd said.

The USA network star posted a photo of their family gathered around Kyle's hospital bed to Instagram on August 28, but he made no mention of the reason for the hospitalization.
