Wendy Williams Announces ‘Extended Break’ From Show Due To Health Complications

Wendy Williams has delayed her return to television for a third time. After taking nearly a month off, the 54-year-old talk show host was set to make her comeback on January 21. However, due to health complications, that date has been pushed back once again.

The news was announced in a statement posted on the Wendy Williams Show Twitter account. “As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend,” the statement began.

“Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ disease that will require treatment,” it continued. “Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital.”

“Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from the show to focus on her personal and physical well-being,” the statement explained.

The statement concluded, “Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and the Hunter family’s privacy during this time."

In another statement, the show’s production company said in part, “We wholeheartedly support Wendy in this decision to take the time she needs and we will welcome her back with open arms the moment she is ready.”

Earlier this week, the show returned with Don Lemon and a panel of “Hot Talkers” acting as temporary hosts. During the week of January 21, the show will air repeat episodes and starting January 28, there will be original episodes featuring more fill-in hosts.
