A lot has happened since the Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa and Joe Giudice were indicted on fraud and taxation charges on July 29, 2013. From pushed back court dates to additional charges, it’s hard to keep up! Get up-to-date on what the charges are, how they responded and more.

On July 29, 2013, Teresa and Joe were indicted on 39 counts, including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, tax evasion, lying on loan applications and more. They were also charged with bankruptcy fraud for their 2007 Chapter 7 filing. Joe received an additional charge for failing to file tax returns from 2004 to 2008.

The following day, the Giudices arrived to court for the charges. They were both released on a bond of $500k.

“Today is a most difficult day for our family,” Teresa said in a statement following the charges. “I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me. I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the Government as quickly as possible.”

Spouse support! While holding hands, the legally challenged couple made their way to the courtroom to plead not guilty to the charges on August 14, 2013. 

The charges don’t stop there! On Nov. 18, 2013, Teresa and Joe were indicted on two more fraud charges: bank fraud and loan application fraud. 

According to documents released by RadarOnline.com in January, Joe claimed his wife did not know of the criminal activity. He agreed to testify if he receives a separate trial.

Guilty Giudices? On March 4, 2014, the couple plead guilty to the charges.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star opened up to In Touch in July about the charges against her. “No one can ever prepare themselves to go to prison,” she said. “How could I ever prepare myself to be away from my kids? It’s too terrifying for me to even think about.”

In an effort to pay off their legal bills, the Giudices listed their Jersey Shore house (seen above), $3.9 million mansion and family boat.

A day before the sentencing, Joe requested change to release conditions after his father Frank’s untimely death. “As Mr. Frank Giudice tragically passed away on June 18, 2014, I am respectfully submitting a proposed Consent Order modifying the previous ‘Order Setting Conditions of Release’ to omit Frank Giudice’s name (making Giuseppe Giudice the sole signor),” Joe’s lawyer wrote in documents obtained by RadarOnline.com.
