Don't know how to get a pony that's polished enough for a impromptu date night? Braid it! The style, like the one Katy Perry wore to Britney Spears' Piece of Me premiere in Vegas, adds texture and gives the simplest of hairstyles (i.e. the ones you can do in less than one minute) a bit of wow.

Mark Hill, an award-winning British hairstylist who has worked with celebs with envy-inducing locks like Olivia Palermo, Lake Bell, and Molly Sims, breaks down how you can create this look for your next casual date. Our vote is to flaunt it at your guy's favorite sporting event. Superbowl, anyone?

OK! Magazine: What makes this a sexy look for a date night?

Mark Hill: "A high braided ponytail was a great choice for Katy at the opening night of Britney Spears’ Piece of Me Las Vegas residency. Together with her oversized pink sparkly top, tutu skirt, and school girl socks, her look was reminiscent of Britney in her "Baby One More Time" video. This is a sexy style for a Saturday night date if you are doing something casual and relaxed. Keep your hair polished with a smooth finish for a more glam look and dress it up with the use of jewelry and gorgeous makeup."

OK!: What's the one product you need to master this look?

MH: "One product I would recommend for achieving this look would be my Mark Hill Viva La Volume Blow Dry Mousse, available at Walgreens, which keeps hair smooth and in shape without stickiness or that ‘crispy’ feeling."

Get the Look:

1. Start by applying Mark Hill Viva La Volume Blow Dry Mousse through your hair, either damp or dry. Use a wide tooth comb to smooth hair back into a ponytail on the crown area and use a covered band to secure. The key to styling successfully is to make sure your hair is as smooth and neat as possible, so add more mousse as needed to eliminate fly-aways.

2. If your hair is long and thick, you can simply braid your hair to finish the look. However, if your hair is finer or shorter, a hairpiece can be added at this stage. A braided ponytail piece can be added to your own hair quickly and easily. Choose one to match your own colour and secure using grips or another band.

3. When you’ve put in the hairpiece, take your own hair and wrap it neatly around to hide the fastening.

4. Finally, use Mark Hill Bedazzled Anti-Humidity Shine Spray to finish the look with a gorgeous shine.
