Lately I’ve been spending much of my time in New York City, and it’s no secret that this town knows exactly how to inspire the creative originality in everyone. For me, those artistic juices are flowing into my wardrobe. Far away is the sunny laid back style of California; and I am captivated by the more thoughtful and constructed outfits of NYC. The color palette is darker, the looks are edgier, yet there is still a certain elegance and simplicity to this city’s style. I’ve found that I’ve adopted somewhat of a uniform, and let’s just say black is the new black.

I’ve said before that I am a sucker for wardrobe staples, and I’ve always felt that way towards black clothing. It can be paired with nearly anything and always delivers a look that is put together and classic. Even a grungy all-black street look still manages to appear refined. So for a look that is easy to throw together and still totally polished, try paring your black pieces together.

How to Style a Classic Sheath Dress

Kristina Kelly is one of my best friends and is the newest member to the Vanderpump Rules cast. We took standard black pants, a classic black tank, and paired them with a few black accessories that showcased Kristina’s own personal style. The black leather newsboy cap and rugged flat booties add a bit of stylish toughness to the outfit while her black studded bag offers a touch of luxury. The look makes a statement without being overdone and it took less than minutes to throw together.
