Amber Portwood is living a mother's worst nightmare. While out for a Mother's Day treat with her daughter, Leah, and Gary Shirley's wife, Kristina, she learned about the 9-year-old's recent panic attack. After finding out, Amber admitted that she wasn't happy with being left out of these issues regarding Leah and told Kristina that she would appreciate being included more. As a mother, Kristina understood where she was coming from and agreed. Amber admitted that she was worried about Leah because when she was 9-years-old, she started experiencing panic attacks. Even though Amber is experienced with mental health, Gary wasn't ready to start associating that with Leah's issues and claimed that it was just from her teenager problems at school. Later in the episode, Amber broke down in tears because she doesn't want her young daughter dealing with these types of issues.
