See Joseph Duggar Ask Kendra Caldwell’s Dad For Her Hand In Marriage
Monday night’s Counting On two-hour special wasn’t all about Joy-Anna Duggar’s wedding. In between dress fittings and general wedding prep, Joy's brother Joseph went to ask for his then-girlfriend Kendra Caldwell’s father for his permission to ask her to marry him.
“I just had a question I was going to ask you,” Austin nervously said, while facing Kendra's stoned-faced father. “Kendra and I have been talking for a while, courting for a while, and before we step any further into a relationship, I wanted to get your permission to ask her if it would be alright to marry her…I wanted to ask you first.”
Joe’s question was then met with a cold stare from Kendra's dad before he finally responded.
“Well that’s a big step. We’ve talked for many many hours and I really feel like the Lord is leading in this direction. But I do want to remind you, you are taking one of my most precious gifts,” he said.
“Yes, sir,” Joe responded before Kendra’s dad gave his blessing.
“You have my wife and my blessing to go further,” he said with a smile. “We really appreciate your faithfulness and good attitude and the way you have honored my wife and I and our choices throughout this whole process. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do with you two.”
“Definitely,” a beaming Joe remarked. “It’s exciting times.”

And with Kendra’s father’s blessing, Joe went on to ask for her hand in marriage during Joy’s wedding reception.
