Prince Philip Will Attend The Royal Wedding Despite Health Concerns

Prince Philip has recovered from a health scare just in time for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding this weekend!

Despite having undergone hip surgery only six weeks ago, Queen Elizabeth’s husband will be in attendance on Saturday, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday.

In early April, the 97-year-old royal underwent hip replacement surgery, and his presence at the wedding was not guaranteed. The palace announced he was “progressing satisfactorily” and was “comfortable and in good spirits.”

Two weeks ago, a palace official said the royal family “very much hope” he can attend.

Luckily, Prince Philip has been recovering at Windsor Castle, where the wedding is being held this Saturday, so he does not have far to go to see the ceremony at St. George's Chapel, which is on castle grounds.

While Prince Philip has recovered in time, Meghan’s father Thomas Markle is still recuperating from a heart surgery he underwent Wednesday morning and will not be able to make it to the wedding. Kensington Palace announced this morning that Harry’s father Prince Charles will walk Meghan down the aisle instead.
