Your Childhood Is Officially Dead — Singer Of Nickelodeon Theme Song Has Passed Away

Eugene Pitt passed away on Friday, June 29, at the age of 80.

While his name might not ring a bell, his voice sure does. The singer, along with his doo-wop group The Jive Five, voiced Nickelodeon's old-school theme song from the 80s and 90s.

The catchy acapella jingle went, “Nick Nick Nick Nick na Nick Nick Nick Nickelodeon.”

The group announced Eugene’s death on their Facebook page on Friday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce, on behalf of the Pitt family, the passing early this morning of the legendary lead singer of Eugene Pitt & The Jive Five, Mr. Eugene Pitt,” read the statement. “Eugene had been ill for some time, but was in good spirits with love for his family, friends and fans. My heart breaks for his family and close friends. I ask for people to respect the family’s privacy at this time. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. The best of the best has joined the heavenly choir.”
