Missed His Calling! Chace Crawford Rejected Chippendales Offer: 'I Messed Up'
The Boys are back in town, alright. Chace Crawford recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote his hit Amazon TV series, but he somehow ended up discussing boys with, well... different superpowers: Chippendales dancers.
During his virtual appearance on Monday, September 21, the TV star revealed that his friend and former Gossip Girl costar Blake Lively “loves this story.”
It's “actually a true story,” Crawford admitted. It “was probably back in the first iPhone days.”

“I’ve never gotten to fully tell it… I did turn the Chippendales down,” he said. “I lived in New York, it’s cold, I liked to work out at the gym in my building. Usually no one is ever up there, except this one guy, he would always be up there, you know, smelling good, tight clothes. I thought he was a trainer.”
Crawford then recalled being approached by this man, who was asking if he was a “model” type.
“I’m kind of like a work-out-alone, no-conversation type,” the 35-year-old joked to Fallon.

“I’m teasing; he was very nice,” Crawford continued. “He asked me for some headshots… which I usually carry with me to the gym but didn’t have them that day. He goes, ‘Hey, I do this bootcamp if you’d like to try out for Chippendales.”
Crawford said he politely declined, but told the man he’d call in the future if he ever needed a back-up gig. “This was pre-Magic Mike days,” he said. “I really messed up, I should’ve done it.”
The Boys star also revealed that he finds it “tiresome” having his good looks overshadow his acting talent.
“Well It’s definitely strange," he said. "I guess there are worse problems to have, but it can be a little tiresome because I don’t like attention being drawn to me. I have a specific look and it’s my job to play against that.”

He admitted that his handsome looks got him “typecast” when Gossip Girl ended. “It’s frustrating when you know you’re not getting cast because you look… well, because you’re a heartthrob from this thing," he explained. "I know this happens and it’s okay.”
Chippendales is a dance troupe known for their striptease routines. Notable celebs who have joined the group are teen heartthrob Joey Lawrence, boybander Jeff Timmons and Beverly Hills 90210 star Ian Ziering.
