‘The View' Star Sunny Hostin Harassed By Racist Mob In The Hamptons

Sunny Hostin was trying to enjoy her Fourth of July in the Hamptons when a group of 20+ kids harassed The View host and her family at their beach house.

“My family, as I said, have rented this house in a predominantly African American community. It has real history, it’s the only place that blacks were allowed to buy beachfront property in the country, and so it’s the most owned African American beachfront property in the country,” Sunny explained to her co-hosts. “We were there celebrating and some kids, about 20 of them, ran in front of our home and started yelling the n-word at us.”

The group also yelled, “This is America! We are patriots! This is our holiday!” They even broke Sunny’s paddle board. “They were kind of violent,” she said.

Sunny recorded a conversation with some kids after the hostile interaction, but they denied having any connection to the other group and said those responsible left.

Sunny and her family told the Sag Harbor Police Department about the incident, and they were “just as outraged as we were.” It was determined that the group did not live in the neighborhood and had traveled from parts of New Jersey and Long Island to specifically target the predominantly African American community.

“The African American community does have this feeling on July 4th, because African Americans weren’t emancipated on July 4th. So they weren’t independent then, but this area is supposed to be a safe haven. It’s a place of pride and we found out later they targeted us specifically because of that community. They came from outside of the area,” Sunny explained.
