Twilight’s Ashley Greene and Olivia Wilde share a love scene in the dark comedy Butter, which is just fine for the in-demand actresses.

Olivia plays a stripper, and Ashley plays the disapproving stepdaughter of Jennifer Garner’s character, who will do whatever it takes to win a butter-carving championship after her husband (Ty Burell) is forced to retire after taking the title too many times.

During today’s event at the Crosby Street Hotel in NYC, the actresses fondly recalled their steamy girl-on-girl make out session.

“That’s true,” Ashley says, confirming their time together.

“For awhile, “ Olivia adds.

Of advice for fellow actors, Olivia jokes, “Take risks, and take your clothes off — even if they don’t ask. Leave your comfort zone.”

Ty jokes, “It wasn’t originally a stripper.”

Olivia adds, “I already had that big tramp stamp tattoo, so it worked out.”

For Ashley, it was key to challenge herself with the non-vampire role.

“I think it’s about going outside of your comfort zone,” Ashley says. “It’s about always working and always moving forward and not allowing yourself to feel comfortable anywhere, because I think if you feel comfortable, you’re not doing your job, and you’re not where you’re supposed to be.”

She adds, “You should always have this adrenaline rush and always be moving, always be ‘on,’ and always be doing something different.“

To prepare for the film, the actors were treated to a day of training in butter-carving. Even though Olivia didn’t carve anything for her role, she couldn’t resist.

“I hung out and put my fingers in the butter. I made butter boobs!”

Butter hits theaters October 5.
