Tragic and disturbing reports are emerging about the state of Amanda Bynes' mental health as the troubled 27-year-old continues to undergo evaluation at a Ventura County hospital.
As OKMagazine.com previously reported, Bynes was taken to the hospital against her will Monday night after acting bizarrely when firefighters were called to put out a small fire she had set in the driveway of an elderly stranger's driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters reportedly called the sheriff’s department to investigate the incident and they deemed Amanda was a danger to herself and/or to others and placed her under a 5150 psychiatric hold so she could undergo mental health evaluation for 72 hours.

Amanda's parents—whom she has been estranged from of late—are in the process of petitioning the court to have their daughter placed under a conservatorship, and the former child star is facing an extended period in hospital as she is said to be exhibiting signs of schizophrenia and doctors want more time to assess the situation.
TMZ is reporting that Amanda's bizarre behavior has been continuing even while she is under the doctors' care, with a source claiming she's "completely lucid for long stretches, and then goes off the handle crazy."
The source claims that doctors have determined Bynes is suffering from a severe mental illness "with schizophrenic tendencies" and that she claims that "there's a good Amanda and a bad Amanda."

On the occasions she is "bad Amanda" the actress reportedly appears to mimic a person who is undergoing an exorcism, biting herself and pulling at her body as if to get rid of the "demon" she believes to be inside her.

She is also displaying signs of paranoia, according to TMZ, who claims she lost the plot after staff tried to speak to her about her dog, who she accidentally drenched in gasoline while allegedly starting the fire on Monday.
"The staff told her the dog was safe with her parents, and Amanda went nuts, saying 'They'll kill it, just like they tried to kill me.' This went on for an hour," TMZ reports.
"Amanda then got incoherent and so out of control she had to be physically restrained."
