Sin City, 2005’s hit movie based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel about an anarchic, crime-ridden metropolis, made Jessica Alba a movie star. While Jessica, 33, is reprising her role of sensitive stripper Nancy Callahan for the long-awaited sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For—and looks just as knockout-gorgeous in her skintight leather getups—the past nine years have seen her evolve from Hollywood ingénue to confident businesswoman and conscientious earth mother, as founder of The Honest Company, which develops nontoxic beauty and household products. Here, the wife (of hubby of six years Cash Warren) and mother (of daughters Honor, 6, and Haven, 3) reveals what inspired her to launch her brand, and why nude scenes are of the table.
OK! Magazine: You play a stripper in the Sin City movies. Is it hard taking on such a risqué role?
Jessica Alba: The key word is play—everyone who knows me well knows that I’m a real prude! But a good director can make a scene look sexy without me taking off my top. That’s why I love working with Robert [Rodriguez] on these movies.
OK!: Were you surprised that it took almost a decade for the sequel to get made?
JA: I know a lot of fans had given up hope, but I never did. Even so, I was surprised when I got the call.
OK!: The Honest Company seems like a true reflection of your personal ideology.
JA: Absolutely. I realized just how many toxins we all bring into our homes to keep them clean, and I wanted to do something about it. Growing up, it seemed I was sick all the time—allergies, asthma, even pneumonia. It made me determined that my children would be healthy.
OK!: What do you say to those women who think you’re doing it all?
JA: I’m not, trust me! I’m very lucky I have a lot of help. As women, we have to accept that we can’t do it all. It’s important to show our daughters that there’s more to each of us than just being a mother.
