Ryan Phillippe is showing off his hot body on the cover of the June issue of Men's Fitness.

The hunky star of the USA Network's Shooter displays his washboard abs and in the feature inside the magazine, he tells all about his "quick, effective beach workout" that helps him stay "fit and strong at 42."

Phillippe, who was previously married to Reese Witherspoon, donned a wetsuit but peeled the top half down to reveal his buff chest for the cover. Famed photography duo the Riker Brothers took the pictures that show the actor looking fit and ripped.

A teaser on the Men's Fitness website revealed Phillippe told exactly how he stays so unbelievably fit at 42, what it takes to be a strong dad, and why he's no longer bound up in "trying to be what other people want you to be."

Phillippe had two kids with Witherspoon; the couple had a high-profile divorce in 2007.

The star works hard to stay in shape, as he told Men's Fitness, "Whether I'm doing a movie or TV show or not, I've worked out five days a week, 1 1/2 hours a day, for the past 20 years."
