While Michelle Williams was lighting up Comic-Con in San Diego, her boyfriend, actor Jason Segel, was pulling off a little romantic con of his own.

Unbeknownst to Michelle, sources tell Star exclusively, Jason and her 6-year-old daughter, Matilda, secretly followed her to the West Coast and waited in her hotel suite while she promoted her upcoming movie, Oz: The Great and Powerful. When she returned, the happy surprise of finding her boyfriend and daughter there was immediately eclipsed by an even more joyful event — when Jason popped the question.

"Jason had been playfully telling Michelle almost from the time they first started dating that he was going to marry her one day," a close friends tells Star. "So when he was ready to make his move, Jason knew it had to be totally unexpected, which this was."
