Aretha Franklin Wrangles Halle Berry for Biopic

Aretha Franklin wants Halle Berry to play her in an upcoming biopic based on the iconic “Respect” singer’s book Aretha: From These Roots, according to new reports.

The soulful singer sent out a press release detailing her picks for the film, including Denzel Washington as her father and Terrence Howard as Smokey Robinson, the Huffington Post reports.

The release claims that everyone mentioned is very “enthusiastic about the project and have agreed to take on these roles, subject to further negotiation.”

Denzel, “was very interested in the role,” according to the statement.
