Looks like the American Idol judges' panel is about to go a little bit country, and a little bit, um... hip hop? Pop?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj are very close to closing their deals to appear as judges on the singing competition show, which as already secured superstar Mariah Carey.

Keith, who reportedly edged out fellow country singer Brad Paisley for a spot on the panel, is expected to be paid in the range of $3 million to $4 million — a far cry from Mariah's reported $18 million pay day. Nicki is expected to garner $8 million, along with an additional allowance for hair, makeup and wardrobe.

Apparently all that fuss about her Pepsi endorsement deal has been smoothed over.

Keith already has judging experience (on Australia's The Voice), and fans have responded well to Mariah, a certifiable talent with years of industry experience. They've not reacted as positively across the board to Nicki, so it should be interesting to see what Miss Minaj brings to the table. She might surprise fans, you never know!

As for Randy Jackson, it remains to be seen if he will stay on as a fourth judge or have some other kind of role within the show.

We wonder what Ryan Seacrest thinks about all this.
