Emotional Louis Tomlinson Performs Tribute To His Late Mother Days After Her Tragic Death

A heartbroken Louis Tomlinson returned to the stage that launched his career just days after his mother, Johanna Deakin, lost her battle to cancer.
The 24-year-old singer returned to The X Factor to debut his new single, “Just Hold On,” in honor of his mom, who told her son before she passed on Wednesday that it was her dying wish for him to perform.
Louis’s new single, and first song of his highly anticipated solo career, is reportedly about Johanna – who died from leukemia.

Following his performance, an emotional Louis was given a standing ovation by the arena and panel of judges including One Direction creator, Simon Cowell, who had a few words for his longtime friend.
"Louis, what you've just done and the bravery that took –I just respect you so much as an artist and as a person,” Simon told Louis as he held back tears on stage. “Your mum was so looking forward to tonight and I know she is watching down on you now. She was so proud of you.”
Louis later took to twitter to thank fans for their support, saying “That was harder than I ever imagined. I want to thank everyone around me and all of the amazing fans out there that made that so special!”
