While Angelina Jolie won't take home an Oscar for her critically lauded role in last year's A Mighty Heart, the actress was more than happy to travel up the California coast to beautiful Santa Barbara on Saturday, where she not only collected the Outstanding Performance of the Year award at the town's annual film festival, but also chose to provide some insight into her career and life by talking onstage.
Of her decision to star in the 2005 action flick Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the film that would introduce her to partner Brad Pitt, Angelina said, "I'm very glad I did it... It changed my life."
Angelina was also surprisingly candid on the topic of her estranged father, actor Jon Voight, who co-starred with her in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Though the two have since fallen out again, Angie nonetheless calls the time they spent working together "therapeutic," adding, "it was an important time."

Though many had expected Angelina, who took home Oscar gold in 2000 for Girl, Interrupted, to at least receive a nomination for her work in A Mighty Heart, the 32-year-old will have to hang her hopes on winning at the edgier Spirit Awards, which take place on the beach the night before the Academy Awards.
