The father-to-be of Bristol Palin's baby, 18-year-old hockey player Levi Johnston, plans to join the Palin family at the Republican National Convention this week, says his mother. Bristol is the daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Sherry Johnston told reporters outside her Wasilla, Alaska home that her son left Alaska this morning for Minnesota, according to the Associate Press. Earlier reports about the father of Bristol's baby had only named Levi by his first name, although his personal MySpace and pictures have been distributed on various web sites and blogs since then.

As for whether the young couple are being pressured to marry in light of Sarah's campaign for vice president, Sherry says that is untrue, and that the two had plans to marry before news of the pregnancy became official.
Sarah announced Monday that her young daughter was five months pregnant, in light of Internet rumors that her 4-month-old son Trig was actually Bristol's.
