Sad news to report in the world of music: Kelis has filed for divorce from husband Nas. The "Milkshake" singer, who is currently seven months pregnant with the rapper's child, cited irreconcilable differences on the petition, which was filed yesterday.
Kelis' representative said: "I can confirm that she has filed for divorce. We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."
Kelis is believed to be requesting spousal and child support.
The news of the couple's split comes weeks after Nas spoke about how much he was looking forward to the birth of their first child, a son.
He said at the time: "She's great, man. She's doing good. We are deciding between a few baby names. It's kind of hard.
“I've been thinking about kind of putting something online - 'Choose his name.' You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we're thinking now."

Kelis, 29, and Nas, 35, met at an after-party hosted by P.Diddy for the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.
They got engaged a year later and married in Atlanta in 2005.
