When the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans Saints in Sunday’s game, the stars are siding with the Saints for unconventional reasons – and not just because Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend Reggie Bush plays for the team.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, whose crime thriller From Paris With Love is in theaters now, says, “My brother’s wife is from New Orleans, so I’ll have to be rooting for the Saints. But I’m not a big fan because my team is the Steelers. That’s an old, old team, and I suppose I have to be loyal.”

Cheryl Hines, who directs Kristen Bell in Serious Moonlight, has her own thought process.

“I think the Saints for no other reason than it’s nice to have people rally around New Orleans,” she tells me.

Candace Cameron Bure is in the spirit. She’ll be getting together with her former teen heartthrob brother Kirk and his clan on the fated day.

“We love watching the Super Bowl,” the star of Make It Or Break It, which airs Mondays on ABC Family, tells me. “We usually have a party in our house, and have family and friends over. We usually do a pool on a big poster board -- you fill in all the squares with the possible numbers and the scores – and each quarter someone wins the prize.

She continues, “For the last four years in a row, I’ve won at least quarter. I have pretty good luck during the Super Bowl. You’ve gotta buy in a square, so you can do however many squares you want to buy. We’ll usually do $5 a square. It adds up. It’s nice to win a couple times.”

Country singer Jo Dee Messina looks forward to chowing down on chicken wings during the big game.

“I can try to convince myself that they’re healthy,” she laughs. “And they taste very good. They’re sinful because the sauce is on them, but I can say ‘oh, it’s protein,’ and convince myself they’re good for you.”

For Someday singer Rob Thomas, watching the big game isn’t mandatory.

“My tradition is to not watch the Super Bowl,” he tells me. “I don’t really follow sports, except for tennis really. Sometimes we watch the commercials. We have a big party where no one watches the Super Bowl, but it’s on.”

His wife Marisol adds, “We eat a lot of bad food.”

This won’t be Australian singer/guitarist Orianthi’s first Bowl.

“I’ve been watching in the States for three years,” she tells me. “I’ll probably go visit my friend’s place. They’ll be celebrating.”

May the best team take home the trophy.
