Euphoric Beauty: Alexa Demie Shares How To Recreate Her Signature '90s Lip – Get The Look

As the ‘90s revival reaches its crescendo in the beauty world, with trends like frosted pastel eyeshadows and thin eyebrows creeping up everywhere from the runway to social media, Euphoria star Alexa Demie has made a name for herself as a modern beauty icon.

Famed for the razor-sharp winged eyeliner her character Maddy Perez sported throughout the HBO drama, Demie takes a vintage-inspired approach to beauty off-camera, often sporting a classic brown glossy lip.

Aside from citing "the '90s supermodels and editorials" as inspiration for this look in a 2019 video for Vogue, Demie said her mother's beauty routine played an integral role in crafting her "signature" lip look.

"She would always kill the '90s look," the actress recalled while applying a brown gloss. "She would always have her lipliner and her nude lip."

Achieving this homage-fueled look was no easy feat. After layering two Dior lip liners, the star applied a "light nude" lipstick, topping off her lip look with two brown lip glosses – one of which was Dior's Lip Maximizer.

But times have changed since 2019 and seemingly, so has the star's approach to '90s glam.

Earlier this week, Demie's makeup artist Kali Kennedy, who has also worked with celebrities like Hailey Beiber and Amandla Stenberg, appeared in a video on beauty expert Cat Quinn’s Instagram page, where she recreated her client's signature '90s lip in three steps.

"This is what exactly I do on Alexa," Kennedy told Quinn as she overlined her lips with Mac Cosmetics' Stripdown Lip Liner, adding that she used this same technique on Madonna and Demie's Euphoria co-star Barbie Ferreira.

After liner, Kennedy applied a pale nude lipstick – Mac Cosmetics' Matte Lipstick in Honey Love – to the center of Quinn's lips before adding a bit of shine with a coat of Mac's Lipglass Clear.

"It just makes them like, fun and flirty," the celebrity makeup artist said while applying the finishing touches to the look.
