It may not be listed in your planner, but October 4th is National Vodka Day. Could there be a better highlight to this weekend's happy hour?! Before you go and order up a vodka cranberry, (your go-to since your 21st birthday) play with your palate a bit and try a beverage recipe that includes the classic ingredient in an updated yet sophisticated way.

Here are a few to taste test!

SKYY Ultimate Martini

This isn't just a martini—it's the ultimate martini. Whip this one up for your friends and put out a platter of hors d'oeuvres to impress.

Ingredients: 

3 oz. Chilled SKYY Vodka 

Hint of Cinzano Extra Dry Vermouth

Directions: Fill a shaker with ice. Add SKYY Vodka and a drop of vermouth. Shake the container fast and furious. Pour it into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an olive or lemon twist.

White Cherry Sparkling Punch

What has prosecco and vodka and isn't loaded with all those pesky calories? The answer is Skinnygirl!

Ingredients: 

1 part Skinnygirl Prosecco

1 part Skinnygirl White Cherry Vodka

4 parts Cranberry Juice

Lemon Wedge for garnish

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients over ice and garnish with lemon wedge.

EFFEN Cucumber Martini

EFFEN-Cucumber-Martini

Ingredients:  

2 parts EFFEN Cucumber Vodka

1¼ parts Sweet White Vermouth

¼ parts Absinthe

1 Thin Cucumber Wheel

Directions: Pour all of the ingredients into a mixing glass. Next, add large, cold ice and stir for about 40 revolutions. Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail-martini glass and garnish with a cucumber wheel.
