Broadway really did turn off the lights on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark — U2's Bono and The Edge's highly anticipated musical, which struggled to open last year due to technical difficulties, was snubbed this year by the Tony Awards.
The show only got two nominations, for costume and scenic design, while musicals like Once, Newsies, Nice Work If You Can Get It and Leap of Faith took the lead and were nominated for Best Musical.
In the Best Play category came Clybourne Park, Other Desert Cities, Peter and the Starcatcher and Venus in Fur, while the remake of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield, will battle Wit, Gore Vidal's The Best Man and Master Class for Best Revival of a Play.
Speaking of Death of a Salesman, the play got seven nominations total, including one for Philip for Best Performance by an Actor in Leading Role, and one for Andrew for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role. Cynthia Nixon was also nominated for her leading role in Wit.
Other standouts include John Lithgow, James Earl Jones, Audra McDonald, Kelli O'Hara, Stockard Channing, Linda Lavin and Frank Langella.

But the biggest success this year seems to be Once, the movie-turned-musical, which walked away with 11 nominations.
OK! NEWS: NEIL PATRICK HARRIS TO HOST THE TONY AWARDS FOR THE THIRD TIME
Special awards will be handed out to Broadway favorites Hugh Jackman, who had a sold-out one-man-show this season, and Bernadette Peters, for her "Broadway Barks" work. Not to mention she also starred in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies, which received eight nominations!
Congrats to all the nominees and all those Broadway performers who were not recognized this year, including wonderful actors like Matthew Broderick (Nice Work if You Can Get It), Ricky Martin (Evita), Angela Lansbury (The Best Man), Eric McCormack (The Best Man), and Reeve Carney (Spider-Man).
