Adam Lambert: Perez Has a Crush on Me!
June 16 2009, Published 2:19 p.m. ET
If you were one of the few people who didn't pay attention to the most recent season of American Idol until after it was finished, you'd probably think that Adam Lambert had won the competition. After all, he's the one on the cover of Rolling Stone, the one constantly on TV. In fact, he appears to have been thrust into the spotlight much faster than the show champ, Kris Allen. And in a new interview on Parade.com, Adam opens up about the good and bad of being suddenly famous.
"I've met a lot of people that I look up to, artists that I respect," he says. "Just last night I met Usher, Enrique Iglesias and My Chemical Romance at the studio. I've just been meeting these artists and they know who I am now because of the show and Rolling Stone and all that, so it's weird that they're like 'Hey, Adam!' and I'm like 'What?!' It's just weird to be on the same page as them, so to speak."
Of course, with his newfound fame comes the burden of having millions of people looking at you, and not all because of your singing skills. Having recently confirmed reports of his homosexuality, many are looking to Adam to be an active voice in the gay community.
"I do feel the pressure a little bit, just by default," he admits. "Honestly, I'm so wrapped up in the process of creating music that I don't really have the energy to go there right now. Who knows what the future may hold, but I'm an entertainer and that's what I want to put my energy into right now."

Adam does however have a theory about why gossip blogger Perez Hilton took such an interest in whether or not the singer would come out of the closet. "I think he might have a crush on me," he theorizes. "That's what it feels like...I don't have a crush on him!"
He will admit, however, that he does have a "ton of celebrity crushes" of his own. But he's also the first to realize, "I don't know if there's actually that many celebrities that play for my team that are open about it... Maybe you should ask someone that question about me."
