Alex McCord Dishes on 'Intense' Reunion

According to Alex McCord, filming The Real Housewives of NYC Reunion: Part 2 is more heated than the first episode, in part, because both installments were shot in one day.
“If shooting the show is an 8 on a scale of 1-10, shooting the reunion is probably an 18, because typically when you’re just going through regular life, you might see all the ladies for an hour at a time, and the reunion was a full day, from first thing in the morning through the evening,” she explains to me during the Christmas in July Pet Product Showcase in NYC this week. “Of course, that’s more intense and more high pressure, but I can’t wait to see the ratings.”
Whether she’ll return next season remains to be seen.
“It’s too early to say anything like that. There’s been a lot of speculation in the gossip pages, and I always tell people to take that with a grain of salt. The fact is, and Bravo made a statement, that they alone decide comes back, and no decisions have been made yet, so there’s nothing to tell. At the moment, all seven of us are in the exact same boat, and I’m actually busy working and enjoying my kids on summer vacation, and making deals to really worry about that. One thing at a time.”

If she does decide to return, she may have an ally or two.
“I recommended a few people this season. We’ll see whether or not they’ll come on board.”
Although it’s not always easy having her marriage and family on TV, she keeps it in perspective.
“Well, everything that you do and say is filmed,” she says. “You’re in a fishbowl. The mantra that Simon and I have always used, which is in our book Little Kids, Big City, is we were here first, and before the reality show, before our jobs, before our children, before mortgages and all of that stuff, it was Simon and me. You can never lose sight of that. If you enjoy success in any field, whether it’s TV or anything that puts you in the public eye, it can change you, and I think the most important thing is to try and stay grounded, and try and remember that this person is your partner. Look them in the eye, like what you see and make sure they like what they see. It’s a partnership, and the moment you forget that, you run into trouble.”
Watch The Real Housewives of NYC Reunion: Part 2 airing tonight at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.
