NEWS'American Idol' Launches New Season with J. Lo and Steven Tyler

Da-da-dum! (Insert drumroll here). The moment has finally arrived. After months of anticipation, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler took over their role as judges on American Idol. As season 10 launched in its typical form of auditions-gone-bad and oh-so-good, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest were also on board for the journey.

Although Simon Cowell's biting sarcasm and comments were definitely absent, the new judges asserted themselves with their own comments. Jennifer gave one contestant tough-love advice on making it in Hollywood while Steven couldn't stop feeling the music by stomping his feet and rapping his knuckles on the table during the Ray Charles song, "Hallelujah I Love Her So."
Steven managed to get in his put-downs when the plaid-wearing contestants crooning their best (albeit worst) renditions of a tune. Although Jennifer seemed to have a harder time giving a contestant the red light, Steven had no problem dishing some one-two zingers. After a contestant butchered a Tina Turner song, he quipped, "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?"

The show was not without heartfelt moments as a 16-year-old boy, Robbie Rosen, who spent several years of his childhood in a wheelchair sang the Beatles classic, "Yesterday" and made it his own. Then there's 16-year old Victoria Huggins who not only sang Midnight Train to Georgia, she performed with loads of charisma.
